Anyone know where I can get my horse rugs washed/re-proofed in the South Manchester area?
Try W.M.F/countrywide supplies or your local tack shop sometimes people put they're cards on the notice board. Try doing it yourself if you have no luck its much cheaper
What horse rug is good for winter in the felids and for stables? And which horse rug is good for summer in the stable?
Winter- A waterproof and warm, Doesn't necessarily have to have a thick coat. here's a picture: http://www.indiamart.com/nehalleatherworks/pcat-gifs/products-small/winter-rugs.jpg Summer-Waterproof justin case also has to be a light colour to reflect light heres a pic:http://www.indiamart.com/nehalleatherworks/pcat-gifs/products-small/summer-rugs.jpg
i am just after getting my new cob. He is a 4 years old 15.2 cob who will live out all the time untill about late september early october when i wll put him in at night. he wont be clipped eben though he has a thick coat in winter ( acc to his previous owners) and i was just wondering what kind of rugs he will i need?? just the basics please!! i live in ireland.. if that makes any difference so while it doesnt go under freezing that often it is usually more wet than cold.. thanks!
Hi, You will need at least one medium weight newzealand rug. But idealy you will also need a medium stable rug so your newzealand can dry out while the horse is indoors. As others have said you will need a really good cooler if you plan to ride, as the horse will sweat A LOT. A belly and neck or a chaser clip might be worth thinking about. Since the RDS is starting the 6th of next month if you go to the horseware ireland stand check out the bargin and seconds bin (great value). Good luck with your new horse =)
how to get fresh washed smell in horse rugs
Biz is a detergent booster [full of enzymes] sold in many but not all supermarkets, which does a great job of removing smells. It works great on cat pee, too.
I'm Getting a horse and he will live out 24/7, But he will be worked 6/7 days a week and showed/xc/sj so i think he should have a trace clip. What rugs would he need as a bare miniumum i was thinking: Turnout Rug ( Maybe two Lighweight and Heavier ) - Do you need both or can 1 do ? Cooler/Travel Rug Thanks Please Help
Everyone finds their own style of rugging their horse! Personally I have (for one horse turned out 24hs): 1 lightweight turnout standard neck 1 medium-weight turnout high neck 1 heavy-weight turnout with neck rug 1 duvet (for under a lighter weight rug just in-case*) 1 medium-weight stable rug (not used v often!) 1 fleece rug (wicks the sweat away/keeps them cool/or warm- great invention!) (* I tend to avoid layering as modern rugs are designed to go straight on the horse and help prevent them overheating) As an absolute minimum I would recommend 1 fleece rug and a medium (200g) high neck turnout (high neck stops the rain running down their chest) Hope this helps!
